Just posted episodes 23 and 24. This time we have another guest joining us, Peter Hankins who runs the excellent blog, Conscious Entities. In these episodes we mostly talk about consciousness: what it is, how it might work and at the very end Peter gives us a little speculation about why the universe exists. All interesting stuff. And there are lots more guests in the pipeline. 👍👍👍
So the podcast has been running for a month and it's been pretty fun so far. Episode 20 and 21 feature our first guest. Professor Taner Edis joined us to chat about a variety of topics, including given his opinion on why the universe exists and a little discussion about parapsychology. We have more guests lined up very soon, so we're going to be chatting with a range of people about all sorts of interesting topics. Exciting stuff. And thanks to everyone who is taking part. Much appreciated. 👍👍👍
Now on episode 15. This episode involves Matt and I discussing our experience of Most Haunted (a paranormal TV show that we both did some work on). Good times.
Currently on episode 13. We're mostly free reining it at the moment. The last one was on the topic of a recent blog post about artificial intelligence and the nature of consciousness. Previous episodes have covered coincidences, evolution, the nature of existence and so on. We have plans to introduce some guests into the series, so if you have any suggestions (or want to appear yourself) drop me a line! Taps mic. "Is this thing on?" 😉
Well, we're currently on episode 10 and we've got a further 5 or 6 in the bag. We seem to be having fun with it, which is the main thing. Also seems to be stimulating some blogging on my part. See I am still here! ;) Finally, you can now pick up the podcast on itunes, if you prefer.
Okay. Change of plan. Rather than post all the episodes in multiple individual posts, how about I just give you the means to listen to them all in a single post? When a new episode is added, I'll bump the post.
From the original post:
Shock horror. Not only do you get a new blog post this week (the first in 9 years), but I have also started a project which may be of interest to visitors. A short while ago, my friend (and old boss) contacted me wanting to do some kind of podcast about the meaning of life etc. Well, I am always up for discussions about the pointlessness of existence, and so we have embarked upon a small audio project. We do intend to do more episodes and hopefully this turns into an interesting series.
Provisionally entitled The Existential Files (geddit?), it is primarily going to involve Matthew Smith and I having a conversation about the nature of existence. Can I convince him that everything is pointless or will I be converted from my entrenched position? We will find out soon enough...
- Some biographical info:
- Dr Matthew Smith is currently Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Buckinghamshire New University where he teaches on the MSc Applied Positive Psychology.
You can find out more about Matthew on his personal blog.
